Sharjah, United Arab Emirates | Completed 2017

The floating theatre proposal emerged as a response to an academic requirement voiced by the student body. In this innovative concept, the footprint of the student facility is internally expanded to accommodate a unique performance space. The floating theatre serves a dual purposeā€”it not only provides a venue for performances but also becomes a captivating performance itself as it hovers above the student dining area.

This visionary design showcases the integration of functionality and artistic expression. By elevating the traditional notion of a performance venue, the floating theatre creates a dynamic and immersive experience for both performers and spectators. Its presence within the student facility adds an element of surprise and delight, transforming ordinary moments into extraordinary ones.

The architectural feat of suspending the theatre above the dining area showcases the seamless fusion of engineering prowess and creative vision. The floating theatre becomes a symbol of the student community's passion for the arts, providing a dedicated space for performances while encouraging a vibrant cultural atmosphere within the campus.

The concept aligns with the idea that a space itself can be a powerful catalyst for creativity and engagement. By reimagining the traditional boundaries of a performance venue, the floating theatre stimulates the imagination and invites students to participate in the artistic process.

This proposal exemplifies the student body's desire to enhance their academic experience by integrating art and entertainment into their daily lives. The floating theatre serves as a testament to their collective vision and the power of architecture to inspire and elevate the human spirit.
